Lincoln County Dental receives grant
Lincoln County Dental has received a $5,000 grant from the Lincoln County Fund of the Maine Community Foundation assist to provide dental services for low-income people in recovery from opiate addiction.
“This grant will help people who are in recovery and in need of dental treatment that can be a result of long-term opiate abuse,” said Holly Stover, executive director of Lincoln County Dental. "We are excited about this collaboration with the Addiction Outreach Program offered through the Boothbay Region Community Resource Council. This grant will help the most vulnerable access dental services that are part of the recovery plan and process.”
The non-profit Lincoln County Dental was founded in 2010 with a mission to provide access to dental care to county residents who are at or below 150 percent of the federal poverty guidelines and have no dental provider. In June 2016, the dental clinic flooded and was forced to close. It is expected to reopen in the summer of 2018.
In the meantime, the grant will allow continued care for people in recovery who suffer from dental pain and infection. For more information about this and other services, call 563-8668.
With offices in Ellsworth and Portland, the Maine Community Foundation works with donors and other partners to improve the quality of life for all Maine people. To learn more about the foundation, visit www.mainecf.org.
