September: Schools are back in session; the grass grows a little slower; and the last vestiges of summer activities continue for about three more weeks.

One of those activities – actually 10 days of activities – happening locally is the sixth annual Boothbay Harbor Fest, Sept. 1-10. Lots of music, food, art displays and demonstrations, health-related events and more are being held in Boothbay and Boothbay Harbor. Be sure to check out the schedule of events in this issue and keep up with our coverage of the festival online. Have fun and participate in the “Fest.” Personally, I am looking forward to the Vintage portion of the festival.

After Boothbay Harbor Fest ends, it will be Sept. 11. We all know what happened on 9/11/01 and we must never forget the thousands of people who died in those attacks and how it brought about changes in our lives, especially concerning air travel. Be sure to take a moment during that day to remember those who died in the tragedy and hope and pray that nothing like that happens again.
