Lunch and Learn: Understanding and completing your Advance Directive
Schooner Cove in Damariscotta is hosting a free Lunch and Learn on Tuesday, Feb. 6 at 11:30 a.m. to discuss and help people complete their Advance Directives.
An Advance Directive is a legal document sometimes referred to as a living will, personal directive, medical directive or advance decision, in which a person states what health related actions should be taken if a time comes when they are too ill to decide.
An Advance Directive can give you and your family peace of mind by clearly stating what your wishes are, sparing your loved ones the burden of making difficult end of life decisions. By completing an Advance Directive, you can choose treatments you want or don't want, state your wishes about donating your body, organs and/or tissues at death, outline your wishes about burial and funeral arrangements, and even state your wishes about resuscitation.
Information will be presented by Miles & St. Andrews Home Health & Hospice Community Liaison Connie Jones. Specially-trained volunteers will be available to meet one-on-one with attendees to provide assistance with the completion and distribution of their Advance Directives.
Seating is limited. Please RSVP by Friday, Feb. 2 by calling Schooner Cove at 207-563-5523. This lunch and learn is free and open to the public.
