Teaching mindfulness to children class
Children can benefit from practicing mindfulness just as much as adults can. Join us on Monday, Feb. 12, 2018 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the LincolnHealth – Miles Campus in Damariscotta or the LincolnHealth – St. Andrews Campus in Boothbay Harbor to learn how a consistent mindfulness practice can help children build emotional regulation skills, focus, and empathy.
Mindfulness has been shown to reduce anxiety and depression, rates of absenteeism, and increase cognitive performance in children.
The class will be led by Erica Marcus, MAT, Certified Mindfulness in Schools Instructor, and streamed live from MaineHealth in Portland. Marcus has worked with teachers and students at schools throughout New England and recently presented at The Coulombe Center for Health Improvement’s Mindfulness conference in October 2017 in Boothbay Harbor.
This Teaching Mindfulness to Children class will be helpful for parents, caregivers and teachers who care for children in grades pre-K through 12. Please note: This class is not designed to have children attend and will not have childcare available.
The cost is $10 per person. Register online by visiting www.lrcclasses.coursestorm.com. For more information or to request a scholarship, contact Anni Pat McKenney, The Coulombe Center for Health Improvement Program manager, at 207-633-1542 or annipat.mckenney@lchcare.org
