Three things
A couple of weeks ago, I asked readers to suggest places to live if you didn’t live in Maine and I received several responses – verbally and via our Disqus commenting feature and Facebook page. Minnesota, South Carolina and Georgia were the top three states suggested, along with two of my choices, Nebraska and Delaware (son and sister were happy about that!).
Very quickly, however, as soon as my column appeared on Facebook, my wife chimed in with “His wife is moving nowhere.” And there were several responses from people who have lived elsewhere but were happy to be home in Maine. A couple of people said, “You’re not moving anywhere.” Made me feel wanted!
Update: Or a correction – my wife reminded me that I do not dust! Last week I mentioned some springtime jobs around the house and she agreed with most of them, but dusting was not on the list! Point taken. Also in that column, I suggested when doing some spring cleaning, perhaps it would be a good idea to donate good, “unwanted” items to area organizations for them to repurpose or resell to help others in need. We are putting together a list of area organizations which hold sales during the upcoming months and would be willing to accept items. If you are in charge of such sales, I would love to hear from you. Send me an email at kevinburnham@boothbayregister.com and let me know how people can donate.
My NCAA bracket was busted early (wasn’t yours?) but I still had fun watching both the men’s and women’s tournaments. The Notre Dame women’s team won two exciting games in the Final Four on last-second shots by the same player – can’t get any more exciting than that – to win the women’s title. And the Villanova Wildcats (I had them in the final but not winning) dominated the men’s tournament to win the 2018 championship. They won all of their games but double digits – a rare feat.
Now it’s on to the long NBA playoffs (not excited but the Celtics could keep me somewhat interested) and the even longer MLB season. Time to find another good book.
