Wiscasset farmers market off to ‘amazing start’
“Amazing!” was how an organizer described local response to Wiscasset’s inaugural farmers market June 6. The outdoor market held Thursdays from 3 to 6 p.m. will continue at the waterfront through the summer and into September.

There’s gonna be a lot of wake goin’ on this weekend with the start of the 34th lobster boat racing season Saturday, June 15 at 10 a.m. with the Charles Begin Memorial Races right here in Boothbay Harbor. Sign up begins at 9 a.m. Racing fee: $25.

Quiet serenity on peaceful cove
Local history buffs will appreciate this house and its location. The house dates back to 1876 as confirmed by the original deed on display inside the home. The Merry Barn: A retreat for readers and writers of all ages
Growing up, Stephanie Noyes McSherry loved visiting her grandparents’ farm in Connecticut. The barn was where the family gathered for celebrations and dances. Little did she know then, those memories and that barn that housed so many of her happy childhood memories would never escape her mind or imagination.

Jeffrey Miller, a master blacksmith and historian from Waldoboro, will demonstrate his trade at Lincoln County Historical Association’s Chapman-Hall House in Damariscotta on Sunday, June 16 from noon to 4 p.m. Miller will work at his 18th Century temporary forge, which is based on original forges of this type.
