Windjammer Emporium: A community celebrates its maritime history
The 18” x 24” black and white photographs lining the top of the wall entreat you to step back in time … back to the days when four and five-masted schooners were regular visitors to the Boothbay region. Beginning June 5, Maine Maritime Museum is excited to offer sailing trips aboard the 1906 schooner Mary E., the last surviving schooner built on the Kennebec River, was purchased and restored by the museum, and relaunched in 2018. Bands for books event brings on dancing
On a hot and muggy Labor Day night Monday, many at Friends of the Library's Bands for Books fundraiser were burning up the dance floor.
Early in the event at Marianmade Farm off Federal Street, attendees mingled inside and out on the grounds overlooking the Sheepscot River, had hors d'oeuvres and danced as the band Salty Dogs performed. The annual event benefits Wiscasset Public Library.
