17th annual Winter Activity Challenge begins Jan. 13
Many people are challenged to stay active during the cold Maine winter. That’s why LincolnHealth and 5-2-1-0 Let’s Go! Lincoln County are challenging community members, schools and local organizations to participate in the 17th annual Winter Physical Activity Challenge. This year’s theme is “Marching to Madagascar.”
This Winter Challenge runs for seven weeks and challenges participants to be physically active for at least 30 minutes, four times a week or for 120 minutes over each seven-day period to reach the goal of “traveling” to a distant location. Exercise enough to get to Madagascar or enough to return to Maine. It’s up to you.
Exercise by yourself, or get a team together and exercise with friends, family, co-workers, and neighbors. Enjoy walking, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, ice skating, swimming, yoga, and more. All types of physical activity qualify.
The challenge will run from Jan. 13 to Feb. 28 and many locations (schools, churches, and YMCAs) will be available for participants to walk safely for free. A list will be distributed when you register for the challenge.
Registration is required to participate, and the cost is $3 for adults, and $1 for children under age 18. Businesses that participate will receive a wellness toolkit that is designed to motivate employees to reach the goals of the challenge.
For registration forms or more information, stop by the LincolnHealth Education Department, 66A Chapman Street in Damariscotta. You can also call 563-4540 or email kristina.verney@lchcare.org
