Lincoln Theater
Celebrate the legends & lovers of Hollywood
It’s almost here! Lincoln Theater’s Classic Film Club kicks off its sixth season on Thursday, Oct. 5 and Friday Oct. 6. In this sixth season, Lincoln Theater is celebrating the “Legends and Lovers” of Hollywood. If you’ve ever said, “They just don’t make ‘em like that anymore,” have we got a must-see season for you. And there is still time to enroll! Don’t miss out on the perks of being a film club member and the chance to see six spectacular classics on the big screen, featuring the legendary Humphrey Bogart, Audrey Hepburn, Kirk Douglas, Lauren Bacall, and more!
Six legendary films with 33 Academy Award nominations between them, 19 Oscar wins, and produced with Hollywood’s top stars and greatest directors. To kick off the series, we bring you the mother of all rom-coms, “It Happened One Night,” Oct. 5 at 7 p.m. and Oct. 6 at 2 p.m. This was the first movie to win all of the Top 5 Oscars: Best Picture, actor (Clark Gable), actress (Claudette Colbert), director (Frank Capra), and screenplay – a feat that’s only been repeated twice since 1934! In November, Audrey Hepburn crushes her first leading role (and cops an Oscar) alongside Gregory Peck in William Wyler’s charming “Roman Holiday.”
December brings Errol Flynn as the swashbuckling hero in the Technicolor smash, “The Adventures of Robin Hood,” a thrilling roller coaster ride of swordfights and an Oscar-winning score by Erich Wolfgang Korngold. In January, Bogie and Lauren Bacall hit the big screen in her sensational screen debut. Watch this superstar couple fall in love – on screen and off – in Howard Hawks’ pulse-pounding hit, “To Have and Have Not.” February’s feature is “The Bad and the Beautiful,” a drama that took moviegoers inside Hollywood – and took home five Oscars, starring Kirk Douglas and Lana Turner directed by Vincente Minnelli. And the season’s final film, playing in March, don’t miss the Oscar-winning Best Picture that defines our Season Six theme, “Legends & Lovers.” Bogie and Bergman scorch the screen in the acclaimed masterpiece, “Casablanca.”
