Closed-door session regards Damariscotta police chief
More than a month after Damariscotta Police Chief Ron Young was placed on paid administrative leave, selectmen planned a March 1 executive session prior to their regular session to review the matter.
Young was placed on leave Jan. 12. In his absence, Sgt. Jason Warlick has been overseeing the department.
Town Manager Matt Lutkus said an internal investigation had been completed, but no action had been taken. The executive session, scheduled for 4 p.m., was to allow him to present his explanation of the disciplinary action he is recommending, and to hear from Young, Lutkus said.
Until recently, the administrative leave has been termed a non-disciplinary action.
By state law, the board must vote to go into executive session and then take any vote afterward in public.
