Credit, congratulations
Kudos to Central Maine Power on its quick work around the region Monday as some of us lost power in the windstorm. Thankfully, the outages in our towns were mostly spotty and, except for the whirling snow devils the wind kicked up and the odd squall-like snowshower, the cold and wind were the only elements the crews were facing. At times, the sun was even very bright.
The white sky of winter has gotten old, so if it took the big winds to drive it out, even for a little while, that, too, was something to be thankful for.
The scrutiny CMP sometimes faces is understandable and appropriate for a company with a key role in Maine's daily life, a role we are reminded of when a storm pulls the cord. Let's acknowledge when the company restores power on a cold winter's day or night.

Boothbay Region High School's basketball seasons have been cause for celebration this year, and now the Seahawk girls seek the Class C state title Saturday night. We wish them the best, thank them for the inspiration, and ask that, on the way back to the peninsula, they drop a little luck off in Wiscasset for next year.
This week's positive parting thought: Way to go, Wiscasset Christian Academy's Lady Minutemen on back to back ACEL's!
