DaPonte concerts to feature guest pianist Laura Kargul
Members of the DaPonte String Quartet, Myles Jordan, Lydia Forbes, and Kirsten Monke, with guest pianist Laura Kargul, will present Concert Series 3 - a program of the Beethoven “String Trio in G Major,” “Opus 9, No. 1” and the Brahms “Piano Quartet in C minor, Opus 60.”
Laura Kargul, pianist, is a professor of music and the Director of Keyboard Studies at the University of Southern Maine OsherSchool of Music. She has appeared as a soloist throughout Europe and the USA, performing to critical acclaim in venues such as the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, the Diligentia Theater in The Hague, the Schleswig-Holstein and Nordhessen music festivals in Germany, the Liszt-Haus in Weimar and the Lesvos Arts Festival in Greece. She has recorded for PBS national radio and television in the USA, and also for radio in France, Germany and the Netherlands.
Four performances will take place: in Rockland’s Union Hall at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 19; at the Sanford Performing Arts in Sanford on Sunday, May 21, at 3 p.m.; in Portland at 7 p.m. at St. Luke’s Cathedral on Friday, May 26; and Freeport at 4 p.m. at the Meetinghouse Arts on Saturday, May 27.
