Edgecomb Fire Department responds to nine calls in February
The Edgecomb Fire Department will host an EMS (Emergency Medical Services) responder course in May. Upon successful completion, students will be licensed as a Maine EMS first responder.

The department responded to nine emergency calls between Feb. 1 and Feb. 28.
On Feb. 1, firefighters responded to two calls. First responders went to an emergency call on U.S. Route 1 for a one-vehicle accident. No reported injuries, and minor property damage, according to the EFD report.
First responders answered an emergency call at the intersection of U.S. Route 1 and Route 27 for a one-vehicle accident. No reported injuries or property damage. First responders provided traffic control while the vehicle was pulled back onto the road.
On Feb. 8, first responders answered a medical call at the intersection of U.S. Route 1 and Route 27. The patient reported a heart issue. Wiscasset Ambulance arrived so the call was cancelled prior to Edgecomb staff’s arrival. The patient was transported to a hospital.
On Feb. 17, first responders answered an emergency call on Route 27 for a vehicle which left the road. No injuries or property damage reported. First reponders provided traffic control until the vehicle was pulled back onto the roadway.
On Feb. 18, first responders answered two emergency calls. Responders provided traffic control on Route 27 for a car which left the road near Edgecomb Eddy School. Responders didn’t locate the vehicle. A wrecker service pulled the car out near Cohen’s Corner.
Firefighters checked a Fort Road smoke detector which was determined to be a false alarm.
On Feb. 19, first responders answered an emergency call on Eddy Road for a one-vehicle accident. A car reportedly left the road, went through a fence and struck a tree. The car was towed. Property damage and unknown injury reported. Responders arrived at the scene and the driver claimed he wasn’t injured.
On Feb. 22, first responders answered a medical call for a Cross Point Road patient who reported difficulty breathing. Responders evaluated the patient, took vitals and assisted loading the patient into an ambulance for transport to a hospital.
On Feb. 28, first responders answered a medical call on River Road for a patient who reportedly fell down stairs. Responders evaluated the patient.
