Elections reflections
With an alternative uncertain heading into last week's vote, Wiscasset Ambulance Service's survival of its latest test at the polls doesn't answer all the questions on WAS's future. But it at least showed residents' continued confidence in the service and at most said, let's keep it and get on with it.
If Central Lincoln County Ambulance hadn't paused to search for its next head, and if its offer had been a hands-down standout to save local jobs and save huge on taxes, would CLC have prevailed over WAS?
Or since residents have favored the town department before, including passing its budgets, does no outside bid stand a chance?
Time will tell. But voters' 2-1 rescue of WAS is a decisive enough margin to tell town officials, residents are not ready to drop WAS and any re-ask should be on a really great offer.

Whichever party you belong to, or if unenrolled, and whoever you voted for and whatever state or local proposal you nodded or opposed, one outcome went everyone’s way Election Day: Turnouts were strong.
The voters are winners for taking the time to vote absentee or go to the polls on a rainy Tuesday. Their votes supported their candidates and causes, and made democracy a winner Nov. 6.
