Fire destroys Dresden home
A home at 606 Middle Road in Dresden was destroyed by fire on Friday. Neighbors reported the fire shortly before noon, according to Sonia Lilly, accountability officer at the Dresden Fire Department.
No one was home at the time of the blaze, which is under investigation by the Maine State Fire Marshal. A cat and dog who had been inside were unaccounted for.
Lilly, wife of Fire Chief Steve Lilly, was the first on the scene, about 20 minutes after the fire was reported. She said that when she arrived, the double-wide mobile with a stick-built extension and deck was fully engulfed. The owners’ names have not yet been released, but Sonia Lilly said they had been notified.
While the home was apparently a total loss, the garage and shed at the rear of the property received only minor damage. Water was drawn from Lilly Pond, less than a mile south on Middle Road. A snowstorm complicated traffic control. Route 127 was closed for about two hours in both directions; then one lane was re-opened.
In addition to the Dresden Fire Department, Woolwich Fire and Rescue, Wiscasset Fire and Rescue, Pittston Fire Department, Gardiner Fire Department, Richmond Fire Department, and the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office responded.
