Good things
We wish to thank Boothbay Region Water District and specifically its general manager, Jon Ziegra, for this week’s article on the water system and the drought conditions. With what 2020 has negatively provided us with, we appreciate BRWD and Ziegra for responding to our and Nancy Prisk’s questions about where the system is at these days and for providing information on dealing with the drought conditions. Water is a necessity and protecting its sources should be paramount for every community.

Congratulations and thanks to Mark and Dianne Gimbel for having the forethought of getting the downtown businesses to join them in purchasing the pumpkins from the Damariscotta Pumpkinfest growers. The decorated pumpkins added to the ambiance of the holiday weekend for shoppers. Since Mark said Boothbay Harbor is not going to compete with Pumpkinfest in the future, perhaps he and others can come up with other decorating ideas for next year.

Our fingers remain crossed regarding COVID-19 and the relatively low number of cases occurring in Lincoln County. Doing the correct things like wearing masks, keeping socially distanced and washing and disinfecting your hands has seemed to help. We made it through summer without any major spike in the virus spreading and, considering how many visitors we get each summer, it is surprising that we didn’t see a spike.
