This is madness
Dear Editor:
Here’s the logic of it. All the legal entanglements of the ex-president are said to be orchestrated by the Biden administration to undermine his presidential campaign. So Trump, when elected, will by rights have to do the same to his political opponents. It’s only fair. He will indict and put out of business all those who threaten his grip on power. Yes, he actually said that. Trump has turned the checks and balances of our country on their ear. This man is playing the system to end the system. Whatever force attempts to appropriately contain his lawlessness is framed as an abuse of power as a perversion of law.
But the fever dream doesn’t end there. Now the one who did, in fact, lose the 2020 election, speaks with jaw-dropping creepiness of those who “poison the blood our the nation” and “vermin that must be rooted out.” This is not subtle. These statements are provocations dripping with historical inference and deadly consequence. They are the watchwords that extreme elements listen for with baited breath. Trump is, in no uncertain terms, announcing the coming storm; envisioning a judgment day when an orange haired narcissist becomes the flawed vehicle for a dark revelation brought down upon America.
This is madness.
