Prickles, disinfectant and improvisation
Not much room in my printed page corner this week, so here goes.
♦ Did you read or hear about the return of Prickles, the barefaced merino sheep who went unshorn for seven years after leaving her home in Tasmania during the 2013 bushfires there? According to the report on the Smithsonian website, the sheep is five times its normal size. Self-isolation has its problems. Still waiting to hear the weight of the sheared wool.
♦ One thing you did hear about this week was President Trump’s possible cure for the coronavirus. Do I need to say more?
♦ While some parents are finding out that their children are having a hard time learning at home during the stay at home directives, teaching them the art of improvisation by asking them to speak for 60 seconds on various topics is one fun alternative. According to the article I read, “The point of this education example isn't to stop kids imbuing formal knowledge, but to find ways to supplement this with other skills. Innovative schools are already trialing some of these ideas.”
♦ And congratulations to the West Harbor Pond Watershed Association; the siphon seems to be working.
