Support work force housing in Wiscasset
Dear Editor:
I am writing to support the work force housing that is proposed for St. Philip’s Church in conjunction with commonspace.
Years ago, while in college and student teaching, I needed housing in Wiscasset. I was teaching in Woolwich and I was fortunate to have my sister welcome me into her home while I was finishing my degree and working in Boothbay. This proposed housing would have been wonderful!
My son and his partner lived in Topsham while working for years in Wiscasset. His partner helped to manage a local favorite, Treats. He worked at a farm as well as at Morris Farm. They had tried repeatedly to find housing in Wiscasset, however, it just wasn’t available.
I was happy to see the old Wiscasset Elementary School under construction. It seems a home for the elderly is being built. Surely, there will be individuals at entry level positions that will need a place to live. This seems like a perfect match!
Exciting things are happening in Wiscasset. Let’s make sure they occur!
