WES sings of friendship
Wiscasset Elementary School kindergarten, first, second and third grade students participated in their friendship-themed spring concert called “Be A Friend!” on May 11. Students were excited to perform on the school stage for their families and friends.
Kindergarten and first grade students opened the show with five songs including “Best Friends” featuring students presenting posters to match the lyrics, the partner song “Hey There Friend of Mine/There’s a Little Wheel A-Turnin’ in My Heart,” “You and Me” where students played classroom instruments, “Glad To Have a Friend Like You” and “We Can-Can Be Happy Friends” (based on the famous J. Offenbach “Can Can” melody).
Next, the second and third graders took the stage and sang “Be A Friend,” followed by a two-part round called, “Friends Are Like Diamonds.” Next they performed “If I Didn’t Have You” from the movie “Monsters, Inc.” and “You’ll Be in My Heart” from the Disney movie “Tarzan.” Their final song was “Friendship” from the 1934 musical “Anything Goes.”
The finale was presented by all students singing and dancing to “We’re All in This Together” from the movie “High School Musical.”
Students worked very hard to memorize all the music and movement for this show and the audience congratulated them on their successful performance with rousing applause!
On May 25, the WES fourth and fifth grade chorus and band and the WMHS chorus and band will perform their concert for the community at Wiscasset Middle High School at 6:30 p.m. Please join us!
Thank you to our Wiscasset community for continuing to support music in our schools as it remains a vital part of each and every child’s education.
