Wiscasset woman faces heroin charges
A Wiscasset woman has been charged with the importation and sale of heroin in the Wiscasset area. These charges are the result of an ongoing investigation by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and Maine Drug Enforcement Agency into drug trafficking in the Midcoast region.
Ashley Dowdy, 28, was arrested Thursday, Sept. 22, at her home by MDEA agents and LCSO detectives. Dowdy was charged with two counts of Unlawful Trafficking in Scheduled Drugs (heroin) class B and one count of Illegal Importation of Scheduled Drugs (heroin) class B.
This investigation began when detectives were called to the scene of an overdose death of a Wiscasset man in August. The investigation pointed to Dowdy as allegedly being the man’s heroin supplier.
Investigators discovered Dowdy was allegedly actively supplying heroin to the Wiscasset area and was making frequent trips to Massachusetts to purchase heroin for resale.
LCSO and MDEA are being assisted in their investigation by the Maine State Police and the Maine Attorney General’s Office.
Dowdy is currently being held at Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset in lieu of $10,000 cash bail.
This investigation is ongoing. Anyone having information concerning this investigation is asked to contact Detective Scott Hayden at 882-7332 or shayden@lincolnso.me.
