Let it melt, let it melt
This week’s forecast for a green Midcoast Christmas has many shades of good.
Green Christmases have gotten a bad name because they don’t look or feel like Christmas. But green means unfettered travel to family celebrations. And it means the plow drivers can celebrate with their families instead of working through Christmas Eve and Christmas.
And snow won’t mean a snow day. It’s already Christmas break. So, what good is bad weather? Kids can pitch and catch baseballs instead of throwing snowballs. There are months of that ahead, now that winter is officially here.
With due respect to Sammy Cahn and Jule Styne’s timeless 1945 song “Let it snow! Let it snow! Let it snow,” let it, if and when it must. But with temperatures headed above freezing off and on this week, let it melt!
Week’s positive parting thought. Snow-free days can also bring blue skies, a gift on any winter’s day – kind of like a Patriots post-season win!
