Local artists create artwork for local business
Three local artist have designed unique and beautiful artwork for Crow Point Herbal Apothecary candles. The candles represent Maine and are made with coconut wax and essential oils. All artists are yogis and practice yoga at Crow Point Yoga.
Ramone Hadley Warren created a watercolor for the Maine Woods candle, which has an amazing pine scent. The painting evokes the feeling of being in the woods in Maine, with crows in the trees. Ramone was the owner and artist of Damselfly Gallery, and currently works for Damariscotta Potter creating beautiful one of a kind pottery. She also has a lavender farm and grows and harvests lavender that she uses to make wreaths and sachets.
Lisa Markowitz created a woodblock print for the Rocky Coast candle, which has a fresh scent that evokes the fresh smell of the ocean. The colors in her woodblock reflect the visual beauty of our Maine rocky coast. She lives in Boothbay and spends her busy days working full time as an Equine Barefoot Trimmer, homeschooling her two kids and crafting. The inspiration for her art comes from the world around her, both from her daily routines and travels. Feeding her urge to create are the simple yet perfect imperfections of life.
Rachael Marie Sloat created a watercolor for the Om Shanti candle, a yoga inspired candle scented with a light patchouli and sandalwood scent. She was inspired by the bold patchouli fragrance and wanted to create a bold botanical image that reflected that. Further investigation of the patchouli blossoms was what truly inspired the image. Rachael is a mixed media artist from Boothbay, Maine, combines translucent color washes and dramatic mark making to investigate nature-based and biological structures. Rachael received her Bachelor's degree in Art from the University of Maine at Augusta in May 2019.
