Raise your hand if you know a senior. Not the seniors so many of us in this region are, or are getting to be. I’m talking about the other seniors: Those just becoming adults and nearly half a century from being seniors once more.

If you know any, as a family member, neighbor, or as a co-worker, you know their senior spring has been untraditional. You may have taken in our months of coverage of remote learning, teachers’ and students’ video and parade shout-outs to one another, and more. And it all comes down to this, the homestretch to the big day, which, as we’ve also reported, will be decidedly different, too.

Boothbay Harbor seniors will be on traditional turf, and their families will take in the ceremony thanks to technology. Woolwich seniors and all the others who graduate Morse High School will do it at Wiscasset Municipal Airport, not in Bath. And if you are a Wiscasset grad to be, you are Wiscasset Speedway bound with your cap and gown.

So what’s a paper – or two – to do? As always, just as you will, celebrate the seniors, of course.
