Hootenanny returns Oct. 15
Among the events postponed multiple times due to the pandemic, the annual Hootenanny at the Boothbay Harbor Opera House hasn’t taken to the stage since the spring of 2019. On Saturday, Oct. 15, Garry Blackman and the Hootenanny return. The evening is once again a fundraiser for the Opera House, with musicians donating their time, and all ticket proceeds going to help with the maintenance of the historic building. Over the years the Hootenanny has raised more than $25,000 for the non-profit Opera House.
In conversation, Garry mentioned that his band All That Matters will be joining him on stage along with Tim Sprague, Dennis Moro, Brian Plato, Karen and Nataleigh Blackman and many others. “I am hoping to get my brother Bob Blackman on stage for at least one song too,” Garry added. He is dedicating the evening to his long-time friend Pat Farrin.
As of press time, the sponsors for the Hootenanny included The Harold Bishop Agency, L&R Fisheries, Ideal Toilets, Martin Page, and Timber’s Auto, as well as Pat Farrin & Sons. Sponsorship includes a table for four at the show. Sponsorship space is limited, but if interested contact Garry Blackman at 350-1006 for details.
The doors for seating will open at 6:30 p.m., with music starting at 7. Garry shared that audience members can expect a mix of 50s and 60s rock, old time country, and a bit of folk music mixed in.
Advance tickets are $10 and available from the box office at 86 Townsend Ave. or by calling 633-5159. The box office is open Wednesday-Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Regular tickets are $15 online and at the door.
