WES’ holiday sing-along returns in ‘full swing’
Wiscasset Elementary School students participated in an All-School Holiday Sing-Along on Wednesday, Dec. 21 before heading home for the holiday break. This event had been an annual tradition for Wiscasset students until the pandemic. Last year, students gathered outside for an abbreviated version, but this year, the event was back in full swing and we welcomed families who came to watch and listen to the festive holiday music.
The program opened with students from the entire school singing, “Sing in the Holidays” by Teresa Jennings. Next, the fourth and fifth grade chorus performed “Spirit of the Season” from “Polar Express,” by Glen Ballard and Alan Silvestri, and “Jingle all the Way,” a partner song that included “Jingle Bells” by Sally K. Albrecht.
After that, all students sang and performed movements to many other holiday favorites, including the ever popular “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” and “Must Be Santa.” At the end of the program, the chorus performed one more number for all to enjoy. Chorus members each donned silly holiday glasses and rang jingle bells to the song, “We Will Jingle,” also by Teresa Jennings, a song that is based on the song “We Will Rock You” by Queen.
We were thrilled to perform the annual WES Holiday Sing-Along again in 2022! Thank you to our Wiscasset community for supporting music in our schools!
