This week at the Harbor Theater
“Charade” – Classic Film Series - (1963 – PG; 1 hour, 53 minutes) - Is anyone really who they seem to be? After Regina Lampert (Audrey Hepburn) falls for the dashing Peter Joshua (Cary Grant) on a skiing holiday in the French Alps, she discovers upon her return to Paris that her husband has been murdered. Soon, she and Peter are giving chase to three of her late husband's World War II cronies, Tex, Scobie and Gideon, who are after a quarter of a million dollars the quartet stole while behind enemy lines. But why does Peter keep changing his name? Join us for two showings only at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9 and Friday, Feb. 11. Film introduction by Jon Cavellero at both screenings.
“80 For Brady” - (PG-13; 1 hour, 38 minutes) – 80 For Brady takes us all the way back to 2017 and introduces the four main protagonists, played by Jane Fonda, Sally Field, Lily Tomlin, and Rita Moreno. The quartet of friends are having a blast watching the latest Patriots game at home, but Tomlin's character suggests that they should do something fun and spontaneous, eventually recommending that they should go to the Super Bowl. The only problem is, they don't have tickets, and is the most famous and sought-after sporting event in the United States, so getting in is going to be more than a challenge. Thus begins their quest to get into Super Bowl LI, be it legitimately or not. Joining them on this noble quest are a number of major cameo appearances seen in the trailer, including celebrity chef Guy Fieri, former New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski, and the one and only Tom Brady. Plays at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8; Thursday, Feb. 9; Friday, Feb. 10 – free popcorn for the ladies only; Saturday, Feb. 11; and Wednesday, Feb. 15; at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 12 and Thursday, Feb. 16 (private event Thursday evening 7 p.m.).
“This movie’s dazzle is all about the chemistry of its powerhouse quartet and the potential for comic sparks, and on that front, the starry huddle of Lily Tomlin, Jane Fonda, Rita Moreno and Sally Field delivers.” -Sheri Linden, The Hollywood Reporter
“In Search Of Haydn” – Composer Series – (102 minutes) - In this eagerly-awaited documentary, Phil Grabsky’s biographical account of Haydn’s life is a visual and aural extravaganza, including breath-taking performances by some of the world’s most celebrated musicians. Joseph Haydn (1732-1809) was one of the greatest musical innovators. Mozart and Beethoven greatly looked up to him as an inspiration and yet today in concert halls he is perhaps too often overshadowed in favour of his younger contemporaries. One show only: 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17.
Coming soon: “Living” - (PG-13; 1 hour, 42 minutes) - Nominated for two Academy Awards: Best Actor (Bill Nighy) and Best Adapted Screenplay (Kasuo Ishiguro). Living is the story of an ordinary man, reduced by years of oppressive office routine to a shadow existence, who at the eleventh hour makes a supreme effort to turn his dull life into something wonderful. Opening Feb. 17.
“An understated and beautiful film, Living tells a story that stuck with me long after the lights at the theater dimmed.” – Leslie Dinaberg, Santa Barbara Independant
