Nancy C. Vogt
On May 20, 2023, Nancy Caufield Vogt passed away peacefully at age 57 after a long battle with cancer.
One of Nancy's greatest callings in life was to be a dedicated grandmother and she was among the best. Even though she lived 600 miles from her three grandkids, she played an active role in their lives and welcomed them into her island community any chance she could.
As a native of Boothbay Harbor, Nancy graduated Boothbay Region High School in 1984 and went on to be employed for the majority of her career on the Boothbay peninsula. Many remember her from her 14 years working at the Boothbay Headstart and from the many summers working at Dunton’s Doghouse. Around 2011, Nancy entered a new chapter by moving to Monhegan Island where she lived the rest of her life. Nancy came alive out on the Island, and spent her best years out there, becoming a central figure out there, and being heavily involved in almost every aspect of the community.
Nancy is survived by her daughter Kasandra, and three grandchildren, Grace, Chip and Kate.
There will be a memorial service on July 2 at 1 p.m. on Monhegan Island. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the the Monhegan Island Sustainable Community Association (MISCA).
