Sophie Blackwell’s “Hello, Lighthouse” will be read at the Merry Barn June 24.
The Merry Barn’s June Community Literacy Event on Saturday, June 24, 10:30 a.m.-noon, is a nod to Windjammer Days. Special musical guest, Castlebay, will share treasured ballads and songs of ships and sailors from Maine’s rich history. Dance to sea shanties and sing along. Enjoy a read aloud of Sophie Blackwell’s “Hello, Lighthouse,” and create your own lighthouse wind chime.
These creative community gatherings at the Merry Barn Writers’ Retreat are free and open to children, adults, and elders alike. Gatherings highlight creativity through read alouds and hands-on projects.
The Merry Barn is located at 417 River Road, Edgecomb.
