Priscilla A. Gillespie
Priscilla Alden (Mauch) Gillespie passed away on June 16, 2023 at Gregory Wing, St. Andrews Village, Boothbay Harbor. She was 98.
She was born in Newton, Massachusetts on March 27, 1925, daughter of Gilbert T. and Louise G. Mauch. Priscilla graduated from Newton High School, Lasell College and Forsythe Dental School. She practiced as a dental hygienist in Newton, Winter Harbor and Damariscotta.
She married Charles (Gil) Gillespie in 1956. Together, they raised 52 litters of AKC Basset Hounds (Hunting Horn Kennels). In 1964, their hound Noah was best in Hound group at Westminster.
Priscilla was president of the Pilgrim Basset Hound Club and vice president of Ladies Dog Club for many years.
On advice from their lifelong friends (Wilson and Jane Francis), Priscilla and Gil moved to Boothbay in 1982. Priscilla was active as a deacon and president of Women’s Fellowship at the Congregational Church of Boothbay Harbor.
Priscilla was predeceased by her husband, two brothers Dana of Sheridan, Wyoming and Philip of Southborough, Massachusetts, and twin sister, Dot, of Wolfeboro, New Hampshire.
In addition to many nieces and nephews, she is survived by her son, Jim Gillespie and wife, Deb of Saco, Maine and daughter, Linda Gillespieof Stockton, Maine.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Congregational Church of Boothbay Harbor at 2 p.m., Sunday, August 27.
