Alice C. Minto
Alice Christine Minto, born Dec. 10, 1944 in Cleveland, Ohio to Marjorie Lillian (Kuhl) Leach and Kent Winston Leach, died Aug. 13, 2023. Marjorie was a piano teacher and Kent was a college professor.
The family relocated to Ann Arbor, Michigan where Alice graduated from high school in 1963, along with classmate, musician Bob Seger who played in a band for all the school dances.
In 1968, she graduated from the University of Michigan. Employment took her to Dallas, Texas where she worked in human resources at Parkland Hospital.
She married James Minto of Detroit, Michigan on April 17, 1982. He was a disabled Air Force veteran. James passed away 11 years later.
While in Texas, Alice enjoyed spending time in her boat with her good friend, Janet Shields.
Alice moved to Boothbay in 2004 where she and her mother loved to vacation. She took a job at Willow’s End and became an active member of the community. She was a volunteer at the Boothbay Region Historical Society, was an active member of the Save St. Andrews Hospital group, and was a founding member of the charity knitting group where donations of hats, mittens, blankets, sweaters and scarves were donated to the Veterans Administration in Togus, as well as St. Andrews and Miles hospitals.
She loved teaching others how to knit, enjoyed reading, researching genealogy and her Christian Science faith was also important to her throughout her life.
