Vote to pass the Wiscasset school budget
Dear Editor:
Here in Wiscasset I have been hearing rumors of a group of people quietly planning to vote down the school budget for the 2024-2025 school year. This would take place at our annual School Budget Validation meeting. Why exactly they would do that is not clear but I suspect it is an act of petty vengeance because they do not like previous decisions of the School Committee and they seek to disrupt the good work of our teachers and administrators.
Should our students and town suffer for lack of educational funding and a possible protracted budget battle? Certainly not.
Support for our children’s education is essential and funding that education is more important than ever. Everyone that works at our schools deserves good pay and our respect for their hard work.
So please attend the Wiscasset School Budget Validation meeting on April 30 at 6 p.m. in the WMHS gymnasium and vote to pass the school budget. It is the right thing to do.
Thank you.
