Jail administrator kept on paid leave until December meeting
At the Nov. 9 meeting of the Two Bridges Regional Jail Authority, the board agreed to keep Administrator Mark Westrum on paid administrative leave following his arrest for OUI on Oct. 7 in Bath.
Members went into executive session and made the announcement after they came back into open session. The matter will be reconsidered at the next meeting on Dec. 14.
In addition, James Bailey, who is serving as acting administrator, announced Colonel’s Commendations for Sgt. Darryl Groh and Officer Dylan Quimby, for helping to save an inmate’s life after he became ill and was unresponsive. The inmate was not breathing and had no pulse; CPR was administered and the patient started breathing again. He was taken to the hospital and recovered.
The finance committee agreed to replace an SUV, and asked Bailey to consider using an existing pickup and plow for another winter or two, in addition to hiring a plowing contractor. Plans had called for replacing the pickup and plow. Authority member Todd McPhee said that the budgeted money along with increasing revenues from Oxford County ought to be used for personnel, to increase wages.
