Update: Missing New Gloucester man found after State Police issue silver alert
A missing New Gloucester man called his wife from a Gardiner store and was located by Gardiner police, Maine Department of Public Safety Spokesman Steve McCausland said. Frank Birch told his wife he’d been shopping, McCausland said. A trooper helped Gardiner police locate Birch.
Original post: State Police are asking for the public’s help in locating an elderly New Gloucester man who did not show up for a medical appointment this morning in Yarmouth and is believed to be operating his pickup truck. Frank Birch, 78, was last seen about 8:30 a.m. Thursday in North Yarmouth after his truck was pulled out of a snow bank by a wrecker.
There was no damage to the truck and Birch then drove off. Birch was on his way to a medical appointment in Yarmouth; he never showed up.
Birch is driving his 2002 green Dodge pickup truck with Maine license plate 8220G. He was reported missing by his wife this afternoon. He does have some issues with memory loss. Anyone seeing the truck should call State Police in Gray at 657-3030.
