Westrum resigns, retires from TBRJ
The Two Bridges Regional Jail Authority voted April 19 to accept the resignation and retirement of Administrator Mark Westrum, effective April 14.
Westrum had been placed on administrative leave in October 2016, after an arrest for OUI, but had been slated to return in mid-March. He never returned to the job.
Captain James Bailey is continuing as acting administrator. The Authority also voted to accept the terms of a severance agreement. The terms have not yet been disclosed.
Mary Trescot, chair of the Authority, released the following joint statement:
“After serving in law enforcement for over 35 years, Mark Westrum has decided to retire. Mark thanks the Lincoln and Sagadahoc Multicounty Jail Authority for the privilege of serving almost nine years as the Administrator of Two Bridges Regional Jail and for providing him with excellent support. The Authority thanks Mark for his hard work and leadership, including enhancing the work opportunities, educational programs, and re-entry services for inmates, expanding the community volunteer program and training for officers, and coping with the financial shortfall created by the State’s jail consolidation. The Authority wishes Mark only the best in his retirement.”
