Knox, Lincoln, Sagadahoc, Waldo counties have new district attorney
AUGUSTA – Governor Paul R. LePage announced May 1 that he appointed Jonathan Liberman to serve as District Attorney for District 6, which includes, Sagadahoc, Lincoln, Knox and Waldo counties. The appointment fills the vacancy left by Geoffrey Rushlau, who has been confirmed by the Maine Senate as a judge in the District Court.
When a vacancy occurs for a district attorney, the political party of which the prosecutor is a member must submit replacement candidates to the governor. The governor then makes the appointment. Rushlau is a Republican.
