Dresden selectmen nominate fire department officers
Dresden selectmen nominated the current slate of Dresden Fire Association officers at a special meeting on Thursday, June 15. The board supported the vote of the association in nominating Steven Lilly as fire chief and Ron Theriault as assistant fire chief following a brief executive session.
For the first time since 2008, when selectmen assumed the duty of nominating department officers, the board solicited resumes from other candidates. In 2008, Dresden changed policy, giving the board final authority over the selection of officers classified as paid town employees.
Selectman Dale Hinote said the board had opened and reviewed a resume from one other candidate before making the decision. Hinote also announced that applications for EMA Officer will be held open until Thursday, June 22. EMA Officer Sonia Lilly said she is not interested in being renominated.
Selectmen said they are waiting for a letter of resignation from Town Clerk Pat Theriault who won reelection on Tuesday, June 12. Theriault said she is leaving the post to take another job.
Hinote said they hope to announce at the annual town meeting on Saturday, June 17 that election runner up Shirley Storkson will take over as town clerk .
