An investigation under way into an alleged March 3 assault at Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset has led to one arrest. 

The assault allegedly occurred at about 12:04 p.m. Saturday and involved two inmates housed in a special management portion of the jail. An initial investigation completed by a sheriff’s detective resulted in Paul S. Andrews, 34, of Jackson being charged with Assault and Criminal Threatening. Both are class D misdemeanors. 

The other inmate involved was transported to Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick and treated for minor injuries before being returned to the jail. 

The investigation continues and a completed report will be forwarded to the Wiscasset District Attorney’s Office for final review. The Sheriff’s Office does not release the names of victims during active investigations.
